Ranthambore Safari Zones

The park has been divided into 10 safari zones. In the beginning there were only 5 zones. But as the popularity of the park increased, 5 more zones were added.

Ranthambore zone

Zone 1 : This zone starts from the entry point and runs all the way to Singh Dwar. It is famous for the return of Noor with her 3 cubs. This zone is famous for its tigers and is considered to be one of the best places to spot them.

Zone 2 : This zone has water holes and has reported sightings of cats T19, T22, T72, T57, T28, T60 and T39. This makes it the most important zone.

Zone 3 : This zone includes Padam Talao, Jogi Mahal, High point, Rajbagh and Mandook.

Zone 4 : This the home of Machli - the famous Ranthambore tigress. Other cats spotted in this area are T28, T64, T19, T75, T41 and T25.

Zone 5 : The entry to this zone is the same as that of zone 4. It includes Singhdwar, Anatpur, Jokha, Dhakda, Kachida, Baghda and Bakola. Cats spotted here T25, T28, T17, T74 and T75. The entry for zones 6-10 is the exact opposite end from the entry of zones 1-5.

Zone 6 : It shares its boundaries with zone 1, hence you might spot Noor here as well. Its landscape includes open grasslands with mountains in the backdrop. This zone is known for its good population of sloth bears and is considered to be a good place for wildlife viewing.

Zone 7 : The spotting points in this zone are less compared to other zones. This zone is known for its large number of chital deer and is considered to be a good place for bird watching.

Zone 8 : Tigers spotted here are same as those in zone 7. This zone is known for its good tiger sightings and is a popular spot for tourists.

Zone 9 : It is 45 minutes away from the tiger reserve. It is home to the aggressive Fateh, who is known for chasing forest department vehicles. You can also spot Caracals, sloth bear and birds in this zone. This zone is located near the Raj Bagh ruins and offers a good chance to see tigers and leopards.

Zone 10 : This zone is also great for bird watching and spotting tigers and includes Aantri, Kushalipura, Bodal, Halonda and Banskhori. This zone is known for its serene atmosphere and sightings of tigers, leopards, and sambars.

How To Reach Ranthambore National Park

The park is located in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan. It can be accessed via air, rail or road.

By Air : The nearest airport is at Sanganer, a suburb in Jaipur. It is 160 kms away from the park. This distance can be covered by either road or rail.

By Rail : This is the easiest and the best way to reach the national park. The Sawai Madhopur railway station is just 11 kms away from the park. Local cabs, taxis, buses, etc. are available at the station to help you reach the park from the station.

By Road : The Ranthambore National Park is well connected by road to all the major cities of the country. Hence, if you love a good road trip, you can book a bus ride or take a private cab or vehicles to reach this park by road.
